Do you notice how nobody says, “I want to be a data entry clerk when I grow up” anymore?
That’s not because the job suddenly became unpopular.
It’s because it’s slowly vanishing. And if you blink, you might miss the memo.
Some careers are being automated, replaced or distributed and you need to become aware so you don’t get hit.
Four Roles That Are Changing
CMO Roles
Strange, isn't it?
But compared to the 79% in 2009, only 71% of Fortune 500 companies today have CMOs.
The responsibilities of a CMO are silently being distributed amongst other leaders and in some cases, eliminated completely.
If you're gunning for that position as you climb up the career ladder, you'll want to start:
Getting familiar with revenue ops
Adapting to AI
Understanding influencer marketing and collaboration.
Companies want leaders who can integrate marketing with financial rigor and operational execution.
Data Entry Roles
This was once an essential role for many business operations.
But today, the role is silently dying.
Less people are hiring. And fewer talent are available(proof below).
AI now handle vast volumes of data with speed and accuracy impossible for humans to match.
And even now, spreadsheets are smarter. Microsoft Excel has Copilot, Google Sheets has Gemini, and it's data entry is becoming a spreadsheet formula + Zapier + AI combo.
Our guess? Routine, repetitive cognitive tasks are prime targets for takeover by AI automation.
Hence, you need to shift toward roles requiring creativity, judgment, and emotional intelligence.
So here's what you should do instead: Learn data interpretation.
Tools still need people to ask the right questions and draw actionable conclusions based on the data.
Telemarketing Roles
First line customer support is changing. AI bots are taking over.
Where humans needed to get on the phone to resolve customer problems or introduce offers to customers, AI now makes these calls.
With tools like Bluejay AI allowing businesses to simulate different real-life scenarios with their Voice AI to provide the right response irrespective of accent, tone, etc.
AI systems can now mimic human conversation, adapt scripts in real-time, and analyze responses to optimize sales pitches, without the fatigue or error margins of humans.

Understanding how to guide prospects through the stages of awareness, consideration, and decision online is far more strategic and effective than traditional telemarketing alone.

Have complaints? Follow a DIY support process.
Fintech isn’t just winning.
It's changing banking.
To stay ahead, consider moving into fintech products, support, or UX.
So, what’s the play here?
Don’t panic. Pivot.
The jobs are going away, but value isn’t. You just have to show up where you can contribute valuably.
Here’s what we’re noticing:
Generalist leaders are replacing specialist silos. Modern organizations are searching for people with broad, cross-functional skills who can integrate diverse perspectives and adapt to rapid change.
Companies are slicing roles into part-time “fractional” gigs. With fractional executives and part-time specialists, companies enjoy flexible, cost-effective expertise without full-time commitments.
AI isn’t just assisting. It’s replacing in some roles. Nowadays, some job descriptions straight out tell you that you need to understand how to work with AI and get more done.
Skills > degrees > job titles. Employers are prioritizing demonstrable skills and adaptability over formal degrees or traditional job titles.
It’s a weird time to be working.
But it’s a great time to be self-aware, adaptive, and skilled.
Cross-functional capabilities, emotional intelligence, and continuous learning are becoming more important than credentials alone
